Some people follow all the rules.
Marisa isn’t one of those people.
Discovering the freedom of Airbnb in her twenties, Marisa said goodbye to her career and turned her Toronto, Canada home into a city escape for like-minded travellers. That was all it took to retire from convention, and at 29, Marisa left the city life to march to the beat of her own drum. That beat took her to the other side of the world—the sparkling shores of Kirra Beach—where the ocean told stories of freedom, and she knew she had to make this place home. In 2017, that’s exactly what she did.
The Kirra Abode is a place where Marisa learned to rest her weary heart and craft a life of her own making. Full of wilderness, discovery, and the magic of Australia, Kirra is a place of deep reflection, incredible connection and freedom from the mundane. Nestled between the wilderness of rainforest and endless coastline, Kirra is a world wonder: a place of deep reflection, discovery, and connection, abundant with wildlife, salt air, and magic stitched into every sunrise.
Within these walls, Marisa's journey as an artist was born. Inspired by the vivid textures of nature, the rawness of the tides, and the untamed spirit of the land, she now creates from this very place—shaping ceramics, poetry, and soulful wares that carry the imprint of Kirra’s spirit.
Not just another boring investment property, The Kirra Abode is a free-spirited haven, filled with heart, intention, and a devotion to living artfully. It speaks of the magic of its surroundings and the passionate soul who calls it home.
Today, The Kirra Abode occasionally opens its doors to fellow creatives, offering an artist residency for those seeking to reconnect with themselves, the land, and their art. It is a place to be moved, to create, and to dream anew.
Marisa knows what it means to escape the mundane and craft a world of freedom—to feel far away from it all in the centre of everything—and she is delighted to be able to share that world with you.
